The student will learn the legal aspects, techniques, liability, and requirements relating to the arrest of an individual based on the provisions contained in the Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Power to Arrest Training Manual
Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism
The student will learn the information contained in the Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Security of Investigative Services Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism Awareness for Security Professionals Workbook.
Public Relations/Cultural Diversity
The student will learn to understand, apply, and evaluate procedures that encourage positive relations with the community and the employer.
Observation and Documentation
The student will learn to understand, apply, and evaluate patrol techniques and documentation of reports.

Communication Protocol
The student will learn to understand and apply communication protocols within the guard agency and with outside personnel.
Liability/Legal Aspects
The student will learn to understand the liability and legal aspects of the security officer position.
Officer Safety
The student will learn to understand, apply, and evaluate situations which compromise the safety of the security officer.
Arrest, Search, and Seizure/Handcuffing
The student will learn to understand and evaluate the legal aspects, techniques, liability, and requirements relating to the arrest of an individual and handcuffing.

Law Codes, Regulations, and Ordinances/Trespass
The student will learn to understand and evaluate the law codes, regulations, and ordinances relating to the security officer position and trespass.
Workplace Violence Prevention
The student will learn to understand and evaluate different strategies used to recognize, remedy, and report workplace violence incidents.

Radio Procedures
The student will learn the proper use of two-way radio communication, protocols, phonetic alphabet and 10 codes.
Drug Awareness
The student will learn about commonly abused legal and illegal drugs and substances.

Weaponless Defense
The student will learn how to properly use their hands, fists, elbows, knees and feet as personal weapons to defend themselves from a personal attack.
Introduction to Executive Protection
The student will learn the basics of providing dignitary and executive protection.
Crowd Control
The student will learn to understand, apply, and evaluate different strategies used to control crowds.
Parking/Traffic Control/Major Events
The student will learn to understand and evaluate different strategies used in parking and traffic control at major events.

Incident Command System
The student will learn to understand and evaluate the SEMS/NIMS incident command system.
Preserving the Incident Scene
The student will learn to understand and apply the procedures in preserving an incident scene.
Gang Awareness
The student will learn the responsibility and techniques for preventing, mitigating and dealing with violence/gangs.
Courtroom Demeanor
The student will learn to understand the courtroom procedures, proper demeanor and protocol.

Security Supervision
The student will learn security supervision ethics, roles and responsibilities, and employee disciplinary action.
Sexual Harassment Prevention
The student will learn sexual harassment prevention strategies and laws pertaining to Title VII.
Employment Skills/Professional Demeanor
The student will learn to understand, apply, and evaluate the employability skills and professional demeanor required in the protective services profession.
Loss Prevention
The student will learn the skills for the detection and apprehension of retail shoplifters and laws pertaining to theft.
The student will learn to the proper use of a tear gas weapon and understand the legality of its use.
The student will learn proper defensive tactics such as escaping from holds, grabs, and other types of attack.
Force Option Scenarios
The student will participate in various scenarios that will test their decision-making skills and the application of the proper level of force.
Active Shooter/Emergency Procedures
The student will learn active shooter and emergency procedures.

The student will learn the history, liabilities, and proper techniques in the carrying and use of an expandable baton.
The student will learn the history, liabilities, and proper techniques in the carrying and use of a straight baton.
Baton Training/Side Handle Baton
The student will learn the history and dimensions of the side-handle baton. The student will learn various instructional techniques, vital body points and various pain compliance techniques. The student will learn legislative, criminal, civil and moral responsibilities in the use of a baton.
CPR and First Aid Certification
The student will be taught how to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. They will learn the skills necessary to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrives and takes over the situation.
Firearms Qualification/Re-qualification
The student will learn the laws pertaining to carrying a firearm and recognize the parts and ammunition. The student will understand how to properly handle and shoot a firearm.
School Security Guard Training (SB1626)
The student will understand the criminal and procedural laws including case decisions impacting school campuses and campus security officers.
